Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women.1

In the United States, someone has a heart attack every 40 seconds. Each minute, more than one person in the United States dies from a heart disease-related event.2

Heart disease costs the United States about  $200 billion each year.1 This total includes the cost of health care services, medications, and lost productivity.

 

But, Heart Disease is Preventable!

Some of the key risk factors for heart disease are high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and smoking.  Half of the US population has at least one of these three risk factors.3

Several other medical conditions and lifestyle choices can also increase your risk:

  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Poor diet
  • Sedentary lifestyle
  • Excessive alcohol use

By developing healthier habits, you can lower your risk.

 

Improve your Heart Health at CMI

I’ve had the pleasure of working with patients since July who signed up and joined our Healthy Hearts program to turn their lives around …. and they did!

Patients are losing weight, lowering their blood pressure and cholesterol, forming healthy eating habits, and starting an exercise program because of the knowledge and guidance from our coaches.  

We created this lifestyle change program focused around exercise, plant-based nutrition, and a healthy mindset because that is what works — that is the power that you have for your own body.  It is possible.

Our program is comprehensive and we have a multidisciplinary team of coaches.

We motivate each other.  We support each other.  And we encourage anyone looking to improve their health to join us!

 

What Can You Expect when you join Healthy Hearts?

To learn.  To have fun.  To become healthier, both inside and out.  

Our curriculum includes:

  • Nutritional workshops focused on eating foods to fuel the body and promote weight loss
  • Cooking demonstrations which will teach you how to cook without added oil, salt, and other unhealthy ingredients
  • Group exercise classes to increase your cardiovascular strength and muscle endurance
  • Behavioral workshops that promote stress management, good sleep hygiene, and how to make impactful changes based on all the teachings in the program

Author Jennifer Kurucz Jennifer joined the CMI team after leaving corporate america to follow her passion in helping others achieve their health and wellness goals. Two years ago she started eating plant-based after dealing with some health issues of her own. She felt a difference after just one week of changing her eating habits. Her energy levels increased, her endurance at the gym improved, and the issues she was dealing with eventually subsided. The more she continued, the better she felt. That all sparked her interest in learning the science behind this powerful way of eating. Jennifer earned her certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition through the partnership with the Center for Nutrition Studies and Cornell University and her certificate in Nutrition and Healthy Living from Cornell University.
